Wisconsin<\/a> Democratic Party chair Devin Remiker repeatedly dodged questions about Thanksgiving on Tuesday after state gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong, a democratic socialist, reversed her statement<\/a> about canceling the holiday.<\/p>\n

CNN host John Berman asked Remiker what his personal feelings were about Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n

“I love Thanksgiving,” Remiker said. “I even host a Friendsgiving every year, so I basically do Thanksgiving twice.”<\/p>\n

“I think Tom Tiffany is going to have a hard time at Thanksgiving this year after he’s lost the governor\u2018s race, because those sweet potatoes he’s looking at remind him of the spray tan of the president that cost him his election,” he added.<\/p>\n

Berman then asked about how “annoying” it was to have to field questions about Thanksgiving “because Francesca Hong, the candidate who could win the Democratic primary for governor there, has made statements sort of against Thanksgiving and then reversed it. But how much of a problem is this?”<\/p>\n

The Wisconsin Democratic Party chair claimed it was giving his party an opportunity to argue that Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Wis., would make the holiday more expensive.<\/p>\n

“I think it’s great that we have so many opportunities to talk about how Tom Tiffany is going to make Thanksgiving more expensive for Wisconsinites by driving up the cost of the groceries that it costs to make it, the cost of the gas that it takes to drive to your family’s place and gather under one roof to share in a great holiday. So, as many times as I get to hammer that point, I’m more than happy to do it,” Remiker responded.<\/p>\n

Berman told Remiker he appreciated the “effort” in his reply.<\/p>\n

Hong is among seven Democrats on the ballot in the state’s gubernatorial primary<\/a> Tuesday, including Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. Tiffany faces Andy Manske in the Republican primary.<\/p>\n

“The Democratic Party of Wisconsin capitulated to socialism, and now they\u2019re stuck supporting a socialist who wants to abolish the police, abolish prisons, cancel Thanksgiving, and make Wisconsin the highest-income-taxed state in the nation,” a Tiffany campaign spokesperson told Fox News Digital<\/a> in a statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“While they defend higher taxes, more spending, and fewer jobs, Tom Tiffany will stay focused on making Wisconsin more affordable, keeping our communities safe, and creating more opportunities for everyone.”<\/p>\n

Hong said in an interview last week that Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, reversing a position<\/a> she held in 2020.<\/p>\n

“My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving,” Hong told Politico Playbook<\/a>. “Yep, I don’t want to cancel it. I actually love it.” Politico wrote in an X post that Hong was joking.<\/p>\n

“You know, I’m just … I’m going to be real,” Hong said. “I’m kind of a curmudgeon when it comes to holidays in general.”<\/p>\n

Hong was responding to the backlash she faced for a deleted post, which was initially made on X in November 2020, after she appeared to draw comparisons between the deadly pandemic and the Thanksgiving holiday.<\/p>\n

“Cancel Thanksgiving<\/a>. Should have done this in 1621,” Hong wrote at the time.\u00a0<\/p>\n
