Conor McGregor<\/a> is on the road to recovery after his return to the Octagon barely lasted one minute.<\/p>\n

After five years without a fight, McGregor opened his July 11 fight<\/a> against Max Holloway aggressively, attempting a running kick before throwing a head kick moments later. However, he slipped both times because it was apparent he had suffered a knee injury.<\/p>\n

He tried to power through it, but nearly two minutes into the fight, he grabbed at his right leg again, and referee Mike Beltran called the fight after just 69 seconds following what ultimately was a torn ACL.<\/p>\n

McGregor, though, posted a video to social media saying that his surgery was a “success.”<\/p>\n

“What\u2019s up, folks? The Mac is back, baby. My knee is repaired, surgery was a success, and I\u2019m on the road to recovery. That should tell you all you need to know about my mindset. Straight into surgery, knee repaired, and on the road. Let\u2019s go,” he said in the video.<\/p>\n

McGregor then name-dropped former fighters Dominick Cruz and Georges St. Pierre, as well as Tom Brady and Adrian Peterson, other athletes who have returned from ACL tears, as his “motivation…especially the fighting boys.”<\/p>\n

“My mindset is unstoppable, unbreakable. Thank you God. Thank you so much God.”<\/p>\n

McGregor vowed shortly after the injury<\/a> that he would be back.<\/p>\n

McGregor made an emotional post the day after the fight<\/a>, saying his “head gasket is gone.”<\/p>\n

“Destroyed. I had no injury \/ injuries going into the fight. I was throwing kicks, planted and jumping, all throughout camp as well as backstage before the fight. This came out of nowhere. I am beyond dark here. I can only describe it as hell,” he said on X.<\/p>\n

McGregor was participating in his first bout since July 2021 when he lost to Dustin Poirier due to a devastating leg injury<\/a>. He\u2019s only won one fight since 2020.<\/p>\n
