A two-headed monster in the Dallas Cowboys<\/a>‘ headquarters is not out of the question.<\/p>\n

Jerry Jones<\/a> has built the Cowboys into the multibillion-dollar “America’s Team,” but he’s “open” to having another local legend by his side.<\/p>\n

Jones told The Dallas Morning News that he would be “open” to former Dallas Mavericks majority owner Mark Cuban co-owning the team through his private equity firm, Harbinger.<\/p>\n

Cuban, too, told the outlet that he was “sure our Harbinger fund would be open” to the idea.<\/p>\n

“That\u2019s exactly why if you\u2019re me, you would be open to that is because of the man. I have all the respect in the world for him and I know what he did for the Mavericks and what he\u2019s done for basketball,” Jones told the Dallas Morning News<\/a>. “He\u2019s in additional to financial boatstreams of your team, you want to associate with the highest quality of [a person] who loves the game and then also at the same time wants to do something about it. Mark leads the way in that.”<\/p>\n

NFL owners approved a measure two years ago that allowed private equity firms to purchase between 3% and 10% of a franchise.<\/p>\n

Jones’ comments come days after his son, Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen, said the family “wouldn’t rule…out” selling a portion of the team.<\/p>\n

“But we\u2019d also be very particular in who we would bring in as a partner in terms of that,” the younger Jones told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cuban still owns 27% of the Mavs.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys’ $13 billion estimated valuation is the largest in all of North American professional sports, according to Forbes.<\/p>\n

Cuban sold nearly 75% of his team in December 2023 for a $3.5 billion valuation. His fund also recently purchased a minority stake in MLB’s Athletics<\/a>, which are set to play in Las Vegas in 2028.<\/p>\n
