The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the largest group of technical professionals that’s dedicated to advancing technology to benefit humanity, released its Technology Megatrends 2030 Report on Wednesday after it was reviewed exclusively by FOX Business.<\/p>\n

SWITCHED OFF<\/strong>: The\u00a0Federal Communications Commission\u00a0(FCC) on Tuesday added foreign-produced power inverters and advanced robotic devices to its Covered List, generally making new models ineligible for FCC equipment authorization after U.S. national security agencies determined the products pose unacceptable risks<\/a> to America’s critical infrastructure and supply chains.<\/p>\n

FUTURE TECH<\/strong>: Meta CEO\u00a0Mark Zuckerberg\u00a0wrote in a new op-ed published on Tuesday that the rise of artificial intelligence should be used to empower all people<\/a> rather than being centralized and controlled by a few institutions.<\/p>\n

DRAWING THE LINE<\/strong>: Anthropic CEO\u00a0Dario Amodei\u00a0pushed back on claims<\/a> that his AI startup supports a ban on open-weight models to support its competitive position in a letter after Anthropic was notably absent from a letter signed by many leading AI firms.<\/p>\n

LABOR LIFT<\/strong>: A facilities management company is investing $200,000<\/a> in\u00a0artificial intelligence\u00a0to help skilled trades workers become more productive. New Jersey-based NEST Integrated Facilities Management announced last week that it is partnering with Saint Joseph\u2019s University in Philadelphia on “The Hawk\u2019s NEST: Building the Future of IFM and Skilled Trades Intelligence.”<\/p>\n

PLUG PULLED<\/strong>: While U.S. tech companies race for\u00a0AI dominance, the latest Fox News nationwide survey<\/a> finds voters hitting the brakes on data centers, as more prefer taking time to address local concerns than rushing expansion to maintain a competitive global edge.<\/p>\n

A Singapore-based smart hardware and AI company, Lingverse, is betting people may be ready for that level of attention. Lingverse has raised $29 million to develop an\u00a0AI wearable<\/a>\u00a0called iKairos. The company describes it as a personal AI guardian that can offer help before you ask.<\/p>\n

OPINION<\/strong>: Imagine if during World War II, protesters had gathered outside factories making tanks and planes, and tried to shut them down. Or that just before Pearl Harbor, when American industry was “hyperscaling” its defense infrastructure in order to make the country ready for war<\/a>, cities and counties had placed restrictions on new plant and shipyard openings and tried to dictate what could be produced where \u2014 as long as it wasn\u2019t near them.<\/p>\n
