No team in baseball is more sad to see July end than the Boston Red Sox<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With one day left in the month, the Sox have surged in the American League, going a stunning 25-5 since June 25, including a 15-game win streak that was snapped last week.<\/p>\n

In the last six weeks, Boston has gone from arguably the worst team in baseball, to a full two games up in the AL Wild Card<\/a> race, and only seven games back in the division.<\/p>\n

The team has gone from sellers to, reportedly<\/i>, big-time buyers ahead of next week’s trade deadline, as a three-game set with the LA Dodgers<\/a> looms this weekend.<\/p>\n

So, yeah \u2014 it’s all ham & eggs right now in Boston …<\/p>\n

… Except for one nagging thorn in the team’s side.<\/p>\n

Yes, once again, outfielder Jarren Duran is becoming a headache:<\/p>\n

Lordy. I watched that play live, and I was stunned. I couldn’t believe Jarren Duran was actually upset that Willson Contreras<\/a> didn’t score from third on what was essentially a pop-up to left field.<\/p>\n

I thought I was seeing things. I thought I was going crazy.<\/p>\n

But no, he was legit angry at either A) Contreras for not trying, or B) third base coach Chad Epperson for not sending a 34-year-old first baseman on a ball that was caught 20-feet behind him.<\/p>\n

Either way, it was such a bad look for a player who has been a major<\/i> headache for the Red Sox for the better part of three years now.<\/p>\n

A constant, major headache.<\/p>\n

There was the “incident” during an at-bat at Fenway Park a few years back where Duran was caught on a hot mic calling a fan a nasty name.<\/a><\/p>\n

There was the incident in Cleveland last year with a fan. There was the other <\/i>incident earlier this year in Minnesota, also with a fan. There was a THIRD incident, just last month, with a Yankees fan.<\/p>\n

And now this.<\/p>\n

Here’s the thing … the MLB trade deadline<\/a> is next week. The Red Sox have a logjam of outfielders \u2014 all of them very good.<\/p>\n

Except Duran, who is hitting an abysmal .195 in 101 games this season. Read that again.<\/p>\n

.195!<\/p>\n

For those wondering, that is the WORST average for a qualified hitter (3.1 plate appearances per game) in all of baseball.<\/p>\n

The Red Sox traded Rafael Devers last summer because he was considered a problem in the clubhouse. At the time, Devers \u2014 the team’s FRANCHISE player \u2014 was hitting around .280 with 15 home runs. And they traded him because he was a cancer in the clubhouse.<\/p>\n

It’s past time to deal with Duran. The production doesn’t warrant the headache that comes with it. Anyone with eyeballs can see it.<\/p>\n

And yes, that includes the fans:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
