Former Green Bay Packers<\/a> running back Ahman Green, who made four Pro Bowls with the franchise during his eight-year tenure, has been diagnosed with Parkinson\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n

Green made the announcement on the “Go Long” podcast<\/a> with Tyler Dunne, where he said he found out about his diagnosis last year.<\/p>\n

“I got diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson\u2019s,” Green said. “I had a little bit of the feet twitching when I\u2019m in my sleep and stuff like that.<\/p>\n

“I knew something was going on long before that. I just got a hold of some doctors that I was about to get in contact with. Get the diagnostics, get the testing. And finally got it tested last \u2014 it was January of 2025.”<\/p>\n

Green has kept his diagnosis close to the vest, with only his closest friends and family knowing for more than a year and a half. He said he didn\u2019t want to share it for a long time, only telling his kids and close family. Now, he\u2019s ready to share how he\u2019s attacking it.<\/p>\n

“It needs to be up front. It needs to be a topic that\u2019s always hit. And it\u2019s not the end all,” Green added.<\/p>\n

“To me, I have a jump ahead of it. Just like anybody discovering that they have some type of cancer in their body, I\u2019m ahead of it right now.”<\/p>\n

Green has been focused on eating healthy, making sure to exercise and taking his medication<\/a> religiously.<\/p>\n

The twitching while sleeping is something Green revealed his wife told him about after he retired in 2009 from the league. He\u2019s now dealing with short-term memory loss as well as sleep walking and talking.<\/p>\n

Green, though, remains optimistic and wants to be an advocate now for those going through a similar situation as him.<\/p>\n

The Nebraska product began his NFL career as a third-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks<\/a>, but his stardom came to fruition in the confines of Lambeau Field after being traded to the Packers before the 2000 season.<\/p>\n

Green immediately broke out with the Packers, tallying 1,175 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns on 263 carries in his first season. He cemented himself as the bellcow back, and he earned four straight Pro Bowls from 2001-04.<\/p>\n

His best season came in 2003, when he rushed for 1,883 yards and caught 50 passes for 367 yards with 20 total touchdowns on the year. Green finished his Packers career with 8,322 rushing yards and 54 rushing scores across 104 games.<\/p>\n

Green also played two seasons for the Houston Texans before returning to the Packers in 2009, where he played in a reserve role across eight games.<\/p>\n
