The city of Alexandria, Virginia<\/a>, is pouring cold water on fireworks for the Fourth of July.<\/p>\n

America’s 250th birthday<\/a> is this Saturday, and the vibes in the country are incredibly high. It’s always a good day to celebrate the USA.<\/p>\n

Independence Day just gives people a 100% justified reason to take things to the next level.<\/p>\n

Just don’t plan on lighting any fireworks in Alexandria to celebrate.<\/p>\n

The government of Alexandria tweeted Wednesday a blunt warning about fireworks \u2014 and encouragement to snitch on your neighbors.<\/p>\n

“Fireworks are illegal in Alexandria, including sparklers. Report illegal fireworks by calling 311,” the tweet announcing the city’s plans stated, in part.<\/p>\n

Sounds like it’s coming straight out of Stalin’s communist mouth. Snitching on your neighbors over sparklers? Sounds like something right out of Pyongyang, North Korea.<\/p>\n

I’m not the only one who feels that way. The reactions on X are absolutely cooking the government of Alexandria.<\/p>\n

Sometimes resistance is the act of patriotism left in a situation like this one. I say that as someone who isn’t even a huge fan of fireworks.<\/p>\n

Yet, I understand being a proud American<\/a> and celebrating our Independence Day. Fireworks, cold beer, a hot grill and time with good people.<\/p>\n

It’s a simple formula that has worked for a long time. Don’t fix what’s not broken.<\/p>\n
