A veteran criminal profiler says the alleged ransom demands tied to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie<\/a> appear inauthentic, telling Fox News Digital the notes read as if they were written by two different personalities \u2014 a cold-blooded “psychopath” and someone far more “emotional.”<\/p>\n

“Bottom line is, I don\u2019t believe they\u2019re real,” criminal profiler John Kelly said in an interview. “The first note is strictly about the dollars, about the bucks….Now when you get into the second note, you’re talking about a kind of a different personality to me.”<\/p>\n

There was no sensitivity shown during the abduction \u2014 a masked man with a gun<\/a> and an early-morning home invasion that snatched Guthrie from her bed and left blood on her doorstep, Kelly said.<\/p>\n

“Most of these guys are psycho, and going to do that, rouse an older woman out of her bed and haul her away like that bleeding all over the place…they’re going to just want to get away from the problem as quick as possible,” Kelly said. “They’re not going to be worried about leaving condolences.”<\/p>\n

NANCY GUTHRIE CASE COULD HINGE ON MYSTERY TIPSTER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Excerpts from the first note include a demand for millions of dollars’ worth of Bitcoin, gave a deadline for payment and were said to include crime scene details that were not widely known at the time it was sent to local media<\/a>. It did not include proof of life.<\/p>\n

Details about the second note \u2014 or at least versions of it sent to different media outlets<\/a> \u2014 have been made public this week.<\/p>\n

It included claims that Guthrie had died inadvertently after her abduction, a federal law enforcement source close to the case told Fox News<\/a> on Monday. And it said she was “buried with nature.”<\/p>\n

“She’s not with us anymore, was not ‘intentional,'” Kelly said. “Now I see an emotional word: ‘intentional.'”<\/p>\n

And that doesn’t fit the profile that Kelly sees, he said.<\/p>\n

“This is a person to me that wouldn’t know a feeling if they tripped over one,” <\/i>he told Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n

In taking Guthrie, the abductor or abductors “objectified her,” Kelly said.<\/p>\n

“That’s very different than what I’m seeing in the few words that I was able to see…in the ransom note saying that it wasn’t intentional and she’s buried with nature now,” Kelly explained. “Like that should give us some comfort after that whole horrific trial of removing Nancy and freaking torturing her emotionally right out of that house.“<\/i><\/p>\n

Authorities haven\u2019t publicly confirmed or ruled out the authenticity of the demands.<\/p>\n

Early on, they appear to have taken them seriously, with Heith Janke, the special agent in charge<\/a> of the FBI\u2019s Phoenix field office, sitting down with Guthrie\u2019s adult children to record a video response to the first note.<\/p>\n

The 84-year-old Guthrie\u2019s daughter, “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie<\/a>, has also said publicly that she believes at least two of the notes were real.<\/p>\n

“There are a lot of different notes, I think, that came, and I think most of them \u2014 it\u2019s my understanding \u2014 are not real, and I didn\u2019t see them,” she told colleague Hoda Kotb<\/a> in a March interview. “\u2026But I believe the two notes that we received, that we responded to, I tend to believe those are real.”<\/p>\n

Kelly, a veteran profiler and psychoanalyst who has interviewed a number of serial killers<\/a>, said he believes the kidnapper is a “very cruel person” without remorse or guilt and likely a “psychopath.”<\/p>\n

“I was watching his eyes on the video that we could get to see, I mean, I wasn’t seeing normal blinking taking place. I wasn’t seeing anxiety,” Kelly said. “Psychopaths are like that \u2014 they can be as cool as cucumbers. They don’t feel a whole lot of fear…They just go about their business.“<\/i><\/p>\n

Anyone with information on Guthrie’s case is asked to dial 1-800-CALL-FBI. There is a combined reward of more than $1.2 million for information that cracks the case.<\/p>\n
