His dream didn’t come true.<\/p>\n

An illegal immigrant<\/a> who overstayed his U.S. visa by a decade after visiting Disney World was arrested this week, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).<\/p>\n

Alejandro Saul Rico, an Argentine citizen, was taken into custody on June 19 in Silver Spring, Maryland<\/span>. In addition to overstaying his visa, Rico\u2019s criminal history includes a conviction for assault and a prior arrest for a third-degree sex offense<\/span> in Maryland, DHS said.<\/p>\n

Rico told authorities that he originally entered the U.S. through Miami<\/a> on a tourist visa in 2006 to visit Disney World. While he was granted a B1 visa in 2006<\/span>, he remained in the country long after his authorized stay had expired in 2016, according to DHS.<\/p>\n

“This criminal illegal alien overstayed<\/a> his visa after visiting Disney World, has been convicted of assault, and has a prior arrest for a sex offense,” said DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “Too many illegal aliens believe they can overstay a visa, disappear into the interior of the country, and avoid the consequences of violating our immigration laws.”<\/p>\n

The B1 visa is typically used by foreign visitors to conduct business, as opposed to the B2 visa, which<\/span> is used for tourism purposes, according to the State Department<\/a> website.<\/p>\n

The Trump administration<\/a> has enacted sweeping overhauls of the visa program, prioritizing self-sufficiency and increased vetting of applicants.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
