Comedian Larry David is blasting President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s celebration of the nation\u2019s 250th anniversary with a White House UFC fight, adding that the event made him feel “embarrassed to be an American.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

In an interview with Variety<\/a>, David had harsh words for the president.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“It was a travesty,” David told the outlet, referring to Trump\u2019s UFC fight. “What else can you say about it?”\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 78-year-old comic went on to express how he is feeling unpatriotic in light of the event.<\/p>\n

“It was embarrassing,” he continued. “I was embarrassed to be an American.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

David\u2019s remarks came at the premiere of his new series on HBO, “Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness.” The show features sketch comedy<\/a> pieces satirizing pivotal points in U.S. history and is set to debut on June 26.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The series also features a long list of celebrity guests, including Jerry Seinfeld, Vince Vaughn, Rita Wilson, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Barack Obama<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Obama\u2019s company, Higher Ground, produced the series, with David telling the outlet the former president is “really good at ad-libbing.”<\/p>\n

\u00a0The UFC Freedom 250 fight marked Trump\u2019s 80th birthday and boasted an attendance of roughly 4,300 spectators \u2014 including 1,200 active-duty service members.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The event also featured the Marine Band\u2019s performance of the national anthem alongside Zac Brown, and concluded with a flyover by the Navy\u2019s Blue Angels and Air Force<\/a> Thunderbirds.<\/p>\n

“It was beyond anything that anybody’s ever seen in sports<\/a>,” the president told reporters as he departed the White House ahead of the G7 summit in France.\u00a0<\/p>\n
