The social network giant fell short of saying why that was happening, but pundits have not been lacking in views in this front. It is widely believed that as parents subscribe with Facebook, teens are heading for the door because the environment no longer provides the privacy they would need to live their teen lives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If that is so, mobile messaging and photo-sharing apps such as Snapchat, WhatsApp and Facebook\u2019s very own Instagram have been winning over the teens fleeing from Facebook. This explains why at some point last year Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) tried to buy Snapchat with $3 billion offer, but fell short of sealing the deal. Pundits say that acquiring Snapchat was going to help Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) stem the loss of revenue due to exit of teens from its main platform.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Numbers in question<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While most everyone talks about the potential of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) losing ad revenue due to teens ditching the platform, there has been very little regarding the exact number of teens that have actually left the site. According to a study released by iStrategy Labs, at least 11 million young people have ditched Facebook since 2011. Currently Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) claims to have more than 1.2 billion users.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now that an estimated number of teens that have fled Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is known, can the company still justify its $140 billion valuation, or better still, can this loss impact the company\u2019s revenue in near future?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Impact of teen exit<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Going back to figures, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) says it has more than 1.2 billion users. That being said, what amount of effect can 11 million users have on its revenue? Skeptics have argued that the company will have problems in setting ad rates for advertisers.
