Simon Cowell’s<\/a> fianc\u00e9e, Lauren Silverman, is reflecting on what is was like to find out she was pregnant with their child, while she was still married to someone else, and the media storm that followed.<\/p>\n

During a recent interview on “Happy Mum: The Podcast<\/a>,” the 48-year-old opened up about the end of her marriage to businessman Andrew Silverman, and finding out she was pregnant with her and Cowell’s now 12-year-old son Eric, while still married to him.<\/p>\n

“There are so many emotions that went with that, because it was the end of my marriage, obviously,” she explained. “It was one of the hardest times of my life, because \u2014\u00a0I don\u2019t want to say regretful, because I don\u2019t regret anything \u2014\u00a0do I wish it had happened a different way \u2026 of course I do.”<\/p>\n

Cowell and Silverman made their relationship public in 2013 after news broke that she was pregnant with his child. News of their relationship and pregnancy caused a firestorm, with her husband filing for divorce shortly after news of her pregnancy broke.<\/p>\n

She went on to say that she wishes she “could go back and take away the hurt and take away the pain” that her actions caused her ex-husband<\/a> and their son, Adam.<\/p>\n

The scandal was heavily covered by news outlets, with Silverman now explaining that made it difficult for her to enjoy her pregnancy, saying her main “priority was just to keep Adam shielded and protected.”<\/p>\n

“I was just so in fight or flight. I was just trying to get through it and just try to wake up every day and not, I don’t know, fall apart cause it was intense,” she said. “Everywhere I went \u2026 it was just the way that people would look at me. I was on the cover of every magazine and there were news stories about it \u2026\u00a0 it was just awful.”<\/p>\n

Despite the backlash, Silverman recalled knowing that “Simon was the person I wanted to spend my life with” and that “however we got there, I just believed that it was meant to be.”<\/p>\n

Silverman acknowledged that people felt a certain way about her and admitted she doesn’t “blame them” and “would think the same” way if she was in their position.<\/p>\n

“I felt like, \u2018OK, this has happened. I\u2019m a big girl,” she said. “I\u2019ve got to suck it up and get on with it. And whatever’s coming at me, I deserve it, I\u2019ll take it and I\u2019ll just keep my head down.\u2019 And that\u2019s what I did for a really long time.”<\/p>\n

Twelve years later, Silverman says she has “done the work on myself<\/a>” and has “forgiven myself” for her past mistakes.<\/p>\n

“I have done whatever I feel I need to do to make peace with the situation,” she said. “So now I feel like whatever I put out there and whatever people are saying or thinking, it’s too bad. I don’t really care anymore.”<\/p>\n

Their son was born in February 2014, and the two have been together since the scandal broke, with Silverman saying becoming a dad “completely changed his life.”<\/p>\n

Cowell told “The Diary Of A CEO<\/a>”\u00a0podcast in June 2024 that his son “saved him” after he found himself “on a downward spiral.”<\/p>\n

“When I got the call from Lauren, which starts, any call that starts with, \u2018Are you sitting down?\u2019 You know what\u2018s coming next. It was like, \u2018Are you sitting down?\u2019 \u2018Yes,\u2019 \u2018Well,\u2019 and she told me.\u00a0And, yes, it did absolutely change, it changed everything in my life. It made me happy again.”<\/a><\/p>\n

When asked if his son “saved him,” Cowell said, “Without question, without question. I really, really had reached the point where nothing mattered. Even to the point that I almost can\u2019t remember everything from that period.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
