The World Cup<\/a> has been delivering on the field, but let’s face it: just as much good stuff has been happening off the field, and we’ve got one of the funniest viral clips of the tournament so far coming to us from Kansas City, Mo..<\/p>\n

That’s where the English National Team’s training base<\/a> is, and while the team is preparing for their tournament opener against Croatia in Arlington, Texas, a fan thought it would be funny to get as many players as he could to sign copies of the Declaration of Independence.<\/p>\n

And he was right!<\/p>\n

The document that proclaimed the United States free from the tyranny of the British Empire (and may or may not have a map to a great treasure passed through generations) is the perfect historical document to bust out as we get close to America’s 250th Birthday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

WATCH THE WORLD CUP FINAL ON FOX ONE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Andrew Forester posted the good-natured goof on X, and it quickly picked up a lot of steam.<\/p>\n

How great was this, and cheers to the players for being sporting ol’ chaps.<\/p>\n

Forester accomplished his mission of getting English star Harry Kane \u2014 the “big tuna” as he put it \u2014 to sign, and a bunch of others.<\/p>\n

This video fascinated me.<\/p>\n

FOX ONE\u2019S NEW WORLD CUP VIEWING EXPERIENCE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

First of all, it made me realize how often players and celebrities just go into “signing mode” and have no clue what it is they’re signing.<\/p>\n

That said, would any of us recognize another country’s historical documents<\/a> if they were just thrust under our noses?<\/p>\n

If I was in the UK and someone shoved a copy of the Magna Carta under my nose and asked me to sign it, I wouldn’t recognize it. I’d probably give it as much of a read as I give the Apple<\/span> terms & conditions, which is to say I wouldn’t read it all, and I’d put a big ol’ loud and proud American signature on it.<\/p>\n

Also, showing up with the printed-out copies in a folder helped this immensely. There’s just something about folders. If someone asked you to sign a handful of loose papers, you’d probably think something was up. But, if those same papers were neatly tucked into a nice $1.50 Amazon Essentials folder, you’d assume they must be worth signing.<\/p>\n

I mean, they’re folder-worthy, aren’t they? Better sign ’em.<\/p>\n

Great stuff from all parties, and on behalf of us Americans \u2014 who defeated the British in the Revolutionary War, and again in the War of 1812; people forget that \u2014 best of luck to them as they start their World Cup slate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
