“The View” co-hosts dismissed a recent Gallup poll<\/a> on Friday showing that many young men are becoming more religious and socially conservative.<\/p>\n

“Now, apparently, some feel that Americans are getting more socially conservative,<\/a> according to a new Gallup survey,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg said as she began the segment. “Results found that fewer people condone pregnancy outside of marriage and the use of birth control and even gambling.”<\/p>\n

“An article in ‘The Independent’<\/a> points to factors like the administration\u2019s focus on Christianity and limiting access to contraception along with a sharp rise in young men finding religion,” she continued.<\/p>\n

“I don\u2019t like these polls because I think they are made to say what you want them to say,” Goldberg said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I have to tell you that one of the things that I thought was really interesting is the sharp rise in young men finding religion<\/a>,” she added.<\/p>\n

“Yeah, what’s that about?” co-host Sunny Hostin asked.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Define \u2018religion,\u2019” co-host Sara Haines said.<\/p>\n

Goldberg replied by suggesting, “I think what they\u2019re talking about is because we\u2019ve heard so many young men, we\u2019ve talked about so many young men, they want their wives to cleave to them and to do what they\u2019re told.”<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s the manosphere,” Haines replied.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s the manosphere that wants their way,” Whoopi agreed. “They want you to do what they want you to do. Now that ship has sailed.”<\/p>\n

“Yes it has,” Hostin agreed.<\/p>\n

The “manosphere”<\/a> is a nebulous term generally referring to a decentralized network of internet communities and influencers focused on male issues, masculinity and gender dynamics. It is often known for advocating self-improvement, social conservatism and skepticism of feminism.<\/p>\n

“I don\u2019t think there\u2019s a lot of women who are going to tell you it\u2019s okay for you to make that choice for them. They\u2019ll say, \u2018I\u2019ll make that choice for me, but you cannot make it,\u2019” Goldberg said.<\/p>\n

“And in terms of children, who can afford it? People can\u2019t afford these kinds of things. When they say the numbers are down \u2014 they\u2019re down for a reason,” she continued. “You don\u2019t always want \u2014 you don\u2019t know when you\u2019re going to get pregnant, if you\u2019re lucky enough to get pregnant, but you want to think about, where is this child going to be in ten years? Am I going to be able to take care of it in ten years, and can I afford it?”\u00a0<\/p>\n

“And sometimes you can\u2019t afford it, and you do it anyway, and you make it work. That\u2019s what our parents did. That\u2019s what a lot of parents do,” Goldberg added. “But to judge somebody for their choice, whatever choice that happens to be, if you\u2019re not paying their rent, and you\u2019re not blood-related, and you\u2019re not their mother, shut up. Shut up!”<\/p>\n

In recent years, a wide variety of sources have observed young men are increasingly shifting to the right as certain parts of Generation Z become more religious.<\/a><\/p>\n

This mirrors how many public figures who once identified with the left, have started questioning left-wing cultural changes and expressed an interest in faith<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
