The control of the company by the Brazilian government, though is good to some extent, it can also be seen hurting the company\u2019s profitability. Over the past few years, and more so in the last year, the company is seeking to disassociate itself from some state-controls in order to compete fairly in the oil market.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Clearly, the intensions are good, but investors may wonder whether there are any chances for the company to turnaround soon. In its thinking Petroleo Brasileiro Petrobras SA (ADR) (NYSE:PBR) is on the right track so far. The company\u2019s lobby for more control of its oil pricing strategies and divestment efforts are now sources of potential gains which can be seen today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Investment plan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Last year the company prevailed upon the government to allow it to adjust its fuel prices so that it can mitigate the losses, which it suffered in the segment. The company has an investment plan of $237 billion spanning next five years. In order to raise this money, the company is selling its stakes in various operations, and the latest in the series is the exit from its 35 percent stake in Parque das Conchas for which it raised $1.6 billion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This stake was sold to two companies Royal Dutch Shell plc (ADR) (NYSE:RDS.A), a Europe oil giant which bought 23 percent of the stake. ONGC of India purchased the remaining 12 percent stake. Following this transaction, the Royal Dutch Shell plc (ADR) (NYSE:RDS.A)\u2019s holding in BC-10 rose to 73 percent while that of ONGC rose to 27 percent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Petroleo Brasileiro Petrobras SA (ADR) (NYSE:PBR) hopes to raise about $9.9 billion through asset divestment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Long-term opportunity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although, Petroleo Brasileiro Petrobras SA (ADR) (NYSE:PBR) carries a Zacks buy rating, the stock looks attractive for long-term holders as its turnaround may not happen overnight.
