Kilmartin of Rhode Island is amongst the nationwide attorneys general who have requested information from\u00a0Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) post the massive security breach that might have potentially compromised debt as well as credit card data from almost 40M customers. Kilmartin wrote to Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT), after acknowledging that hackers had stolen consumer-information in the busy holiday-shopping season, from 27Novemnber-15 December.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the letter to Gregg Steinhafel, Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT)\u2019s president and Chief Executive Officer, Kilmartin apprised him about the state-law that required the company to notify them within a reasonable time-frame the names of residents whose information\/ identities might have been compromised. Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) posted news of this breach on the company\u2019s website and also via emails.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kilmartin wrote that Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) has proactively addressed all the obligations, regulations and laws that have to be followed after this unfortunate and distressing incident. He added that he looks forward to being provided the actions and the procedures that the company has undertaken to ensure that there is no recurrence of this kind. Attorneys general in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and South Dakota, are also asking Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) to provide them with additional information.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) has not yet responded to Kilmartin\u2019s said Amy Kempe, the spokeswoman. However, he is working with the rest of the attorneys general to understand what the scope of this breach is and how the company is responding . Three different lawsuits have already been filed in Massachusetts\u2019 U.S. District Court, accusing Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) of negligence as well as breach of the implied contract. Phillips Garcia Law, the Dartmouth firm, sued on behalf of Meghan Derba, a Bristol County resident . Carlin J.
