Matthew Rhys is sounding off on the public behavior driving him “bananas.”<\/p>\n

“The Americans” star isn\u2019t hiding his irritation with one modern habit that\u2019s seemingly pushed him over the edge \u2014 <\/strong>people blasting videos, music and FaceTime calls in public like everyone else signed up for the experience.<\/p>\n

“Do you have any pet peeves?” Rhys was asked in a Wall Street Journal<\/a> interview.<\/p>\n

“What is driving me bananas these days are people who watch things on their phones without headphones,” Rhys said. “I\u2019m turning into my dad, but I feel like I have to start saying to people, \u2018Excuse me, do you have headphones?\u2019 Because if we\u2019re not schooling people, it\u2019s going to become more rampant than it already is, and it is out of control.”<\/p>\n

The actor\u2019s solution to modern overstimulation is about as unplugged as it gets.<\/p>\n

“What do you do to relax?” he was asked.<\/p>\n

“If it\u2019s not on the water\u2014if it\u2019s not a kayak or sail or something like that\u2014then horses are big for me,” Rhys explained. “You just get to be quiet and in nature. You can\u2019t be on your phone. You have to be present.”<\/p>\n

The Welsh actor\u2019s latest project is “Widow\u2019s Bay,” starring alongside Stephen Root.<\/p>\n

The series centers on an ambitious mayor, Tom Loftis (Rhys), who tries to capitalize on a surge of tourists visiting the fictional island. His goal is to turn it into the next Martha\u2019s Vineyard.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Rhys has been with his longtime partner, “Felicity” alum Keri Russell<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The two have been together since 2014 and, two years later, welcomed a son named Sam.<\/p>\n

Their romance started while playing married Soviet spies on FX\u2019s “The Americans” \u2014 turning their explosive on-screen chemistry into a real-life relationship that\u2019s survived Hollywood for more than a decade.<\/p>\n

“We were, like, hot and heavy in love, shooting the spy stuff at night in disguises and wigs,” Russell previously told Variety<\/a>. “I mean, it was such a fun, sexy time.”<\/p>\n

What started as on-screen tension eventually became a real-life relationship.<\/p>\n

Part of what\u2019s kept them together is that they couldn\u2019t be more different.<\/p>\n

Rhys previously told Parade<\/a> that the secret to their success is that they “balance each other.”<\/p>\n

“There\u2019s usually that thing where you need one person to be the calm head \u2014 that\u2019s her,” he said. “And then I\u2019m the kind of fiery one. \u2026 We work well as a team; we have a good partnership and we make each other laugh.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
