Till now, this is the highest core count on any chip. The company had already announced that the Broadwell microprocessors on which it is working will be more powerful and efficient compared to Haswell chips. The computers would become faster, lighter and sleeker by the usage of these chips. The battery life of laptops would also be enhanced by the help of a Broadwell chip. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) <\/b>said that the development plans of Broadwell chips have delayed by almost a quarter.<\/p>\n

The 18-core Broadwell-EP will be based on 14nm production process of Intel Corporation. According to the report by Vr-zone, the company is focussing on increasing the number of cores on each of the chip die instead of speeding up the cores. However,\u00a0until 2015, the 18-core chip is\u00a0not likely to hit the market. For high-performance\u00a0laptops and desktops, the company is also working on 8 and 10-core processors. The highest core count in the processors of Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) <\/b>today, is 12. The 18-core silicon is likely to have a top level cache of 45MB. The dual socket Broadwell EP system, according to Vr-zone, can support even 2TM DDR4 memory.<\/p>\n
