Our\u00a0culture has sold women one of the greatest lies of all time: abortion<\/a> is\u00a0the\u00a0best and only\u00a0option. Rather than empowering women to become mothers, our society has convinced\u00a0her that an abortion is a “quick and easy fix”\u00a0to her problems.\u00a0But\u00a0in\u00a0reality,\u00a0abortion robs\u00a0women of one of the greatest joys that we celebrate\u00a0on Mother\u2019s Day.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As\u00a0a mom to\u00a0three young boys, my heart breaks for the woman\u00a0struggling to make ends meet. It breaks for the woman who\u00a0feels the mounting pressure to support her children alone. But most of all,\u00a0my heartbreaks for the woman who\u00a0walked into Planned Parenthood\u00a0thinking an abortion would be part of the solution to her problems.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Human Coalition and Planned Parenthood\u00a0see the same abortion-seeking woman, and less than one in four of those\u00a0moms\u00a0express\u00a0confidence\u00a0in her decision to abort. In fact, the majority would prefer to parent if their\u00a0circumstances were different.\u00a0<\/p>\n

THE MESSAGE ABOUT MOTHERHOOD THE MEDIA DESPERATELY WANTS YOU TO MISS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Read that again: most women walking into abortion facilities\u00a0aren’t\u00a0certain they want an abortion.\u00a0They’re\u00a0overwhelmed and believe they are out of options.\u00a0The typical abortion-seeking woman\u00a0likely knows\u00a0the value of motherhood because she\u00a0already has other children.\u00a0In her current pregnancy<\/a>, what she needs\u00a0isn’t\u00a0an abortion;\u00a0it’s\u00a0a solution\u00a0to the barriers\u00a0that keep her from\u00a0seeing the path toward life for her baby.\u00a0When we remove barriers, we\u00a0show women that motherhood is\u00a0possible.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Housing Instability<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n

One of the main factors in a mother’s life decision is her housing circumstances. Take “Maria” for example. She had just lost everything when she found out she was pregnant. Evicted from her apartment and without a stable home, Maria was forced to send her teenage son to live with her mom in another state. During the early weeks of her pregnancy, she bounced around from motels to her car and even emergency shelters. The father of her baby was not involved, which left her\u00a0to shoulder\u00a0the responsibility of providing for her and her baby alone.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a 2023 study, the pro-abortion\u00a0Guttmacher Institute\u00a0reported that three-quarters of abortion clients were living with incomes that were 200% below the federal poverty line. Behind these numbers are real moms like Maria who face overcrowded living conditions, eviction, and frequent moves, which are an added stress. Maria\u2019s story highlights the underlying need for these moms. They\u00a0deserve to know about the\u00a0organizations that\u00a0will stand in the gap and help them find housing solutions that bring stability to the family unit. But too often, they only know about Planned\u00a0Parenthood.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Childcare & Employment Challenges<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Adding to their housing worries is a mother\u2019s employment status. For single moms,\u00a0flexibility can go a long way.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

A 2026 Stanford-led\u00a0study\u00a0found that the number of children a woman\u00a0has\u00a0in a given\u00a0period\u00a0(realized fertility)\u00a0was 14% higher when both partners worked from home at least one day per week compared to couples where neither did. Researchers\u00a0estimate\u00a0remote work could account for\u00a0roughly 8.1%\u00a0of U.S. births \u2014 approximately 291,000 babies per year.\u00a0The takeaway? When mothers have flexibility over where and when they work,\u00a0they’re\u00a0more likely to have children, and more of them.<\/p>\n

I can speak to this\u00a0personally. Because I\u00a0work with\u00a0flexible hours,\u00a0I’m\u00a0the one dropping my boys off at school in the morning and picking them up in the afternoon.\u00a0I’m\u00a0present. And beyond workplace flexibility, my family has been blessed by something deeper: community. A young woman from our church comes over to care for my boys twice a week, and homeschooled girls in our parish serve as mothers’ helpers to fill in gaps during the day. My mother-in-law lives nearby and steps in when we need her. None of that\u00a0required\u00a0a government subsidy. It required a village. The kind that used to be the norm in American life, and that we should be actively rebuilding.\u00a0<\/p>\n

My heart goes out to every mother struggling to find stable, reliable care for her children. I\u00a0empathize\u00a0deeply with moms who feel torn between being present for their children and keeping the lights on. That tension is real. And it deserves real solutions, not a culture that hands her an abortion referral and calls it compassion.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gaps in Healthcare Access<\/strong><\/p>\n

BRIDGING THE PRENATAL CARE GAP: THE GLOBAL EFFORT HELPING MOMS START HEALTHY<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0Most importantly, every mother deserves compassionate, life-affirming care.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Among the most vulnerable women in our nation are those living in rural areas with limited access to healthcare<\/a>.\u00a0Women who live in rural areas\u00a0are reported to have higher rates of pregnancy-related complications, compared to U.S. averages.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Luckily, pro-life organizations are making inroads to serve more of these moms. In our digital age,\u00a0we can\u00a0quickly connect\u00a0with moms\u00a0and deliver\u00a0the care they deserve.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
