{"id":131033,"date":"2026-05-07T07:00:45","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T11:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cablemanpro.com\/wallstreetpr\/fitness-expert-reveals-simple-rule-to-get-in-shape-without-dreading-the-gym-just-move-131033"},"modified":"2026-05-07T07:00:45","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T11:00:45","slug":"fitness-expert-reveals-simple-rule-to-get-in-shape-without-dreading-the-gym-just-move","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cablemanpro.com\/wallstreetpr\/fitness-expert-reveals-simple-rule-to-get-in-shape-without-dreading-the-gym-just-move-131033","title":{"rendered":"Fitness expert reveals simple rule to get in shape without dreading the gym: &#8216;Just move&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Summer is right around the corner \u2014 and for some, that may come with a renewed push to get to the gym.<\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/health\/nutrition-and-fitness\/fitness\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fitness routines<\/a> work differently for everyone, one expert offers simple advice for looking and feeling your best: Just move.<\/p>\n<p>Kenny Santucci, fitness trainer, gym owner and host of the &#8220;Strong New York&#8221; podcast, met with Fox News Digital for an interview, during which he shared advice on achieving fitness goals without dreading workouts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/health\/study-reveals-exercising-every-day-may-not-necessary-better-than-none\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>STUDY REVEALS EXERCISING EVERY DAY MAY NOT BE NECESSARY: &#8216;BETTER THAN NONE&#8217;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Santucci admitted that he dislikes certain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/fitness-and-wellbeing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">types of exercises<\/a>, like back squatting, and will opt for alternatives instead.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I hate back squatting. I don&#8217;t like doing it,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But I squat every time I go to the gym, or every time I have a leg day \u2026 I&#8217;ll go use a pendulum squat. I&#8217;ll use a leg press. I will do lunges. It doesn&#8217;t matter.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Do I believe in [fitness] programming? Yes. For the average person who lives a normal life, do you have to adhere to a strict program? [No].&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When an exercise feels like a chore, Santucci said that could make it harder to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/health\/healthy-living\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stay consistent<\/a> with workouts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you&#8217;re thinking in your head, \u2018Oh, God, I\u2019ve got to go do legs, I don&#8217;t want to\u2026\u2019 Go do something else,&#8221; he suggested. &#8220;Swing a kettlebell, push a sled, do something. Just move. I\u2019d rather encourage people to move than anything else.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I want people to look forward to it,&#8221; Santucci added. &#8220;You should never question, \u2018Should I go or should I not?\u2019 You should go, and then what you do when you get there \u2013 sky&#8217;s the limit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While Santucci emphasizes general movement, he noted that not all forms of exercise will deliver the desired muscle-building results.<\/p>\n<p>For a better outcome, he often encourages gym-goers to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/health\/older-adults-should-target-muscles-when-strength-training-says-fitness-pro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">add more strength training<\/a> to their routines and to lift &#8220;a little bit heavier.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/health\/people-using-vibration-plates-weight-loss-do-work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>PEOPLE ARE USING VIBRATION PLATES FOR WEIGHT LOSS: DO THEY WORK?<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Strength training should be the basis of what you do, not cycling,&#8221; he said, as an example. &#8220;I don&#8217;t have anything against cycling \u2026 but if you&#8217;re telling me that that&#8217;s the basis of your training, and your goal is aesthetics, then you are not really helping yourself get to that point any easier.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/newsletters?cmpid=fnfirstnl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR HEALTH NEWSLETTER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Santucci recommends working at about 60% to 80% of capacity, pushing to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/health\/sleep-disorders\/fatigue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">point of fatigue<\/a> with moderate intensity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And if you&#8217;re not doing those things, then you&#8217;re probably not going to get out what you think you&#8217;re going to,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s a science behind muscle growth, and if there&#8217;s no external force pushing against the muscle tissue, and you&#8217;re not fueling yourself <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/health\/nutrition-and-fitness\/nutrition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">with protein<\/a>, then you&#8217;re probably not going to build muscle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, Santucci still encourages &#8220;everyone to do everything.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/lifestyle\/quizzes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hard doesn&#8217;t necessarily mean it&#8217;s a better workout,&#8221; he said. &#8220;If you&#8217;re training at levels of intensity, then you&#8217;re reproducing good outcomes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t want it to be hard for the sake of it being hard,&#8221; he went on. &#8220;I want to progress at something. I want to get better at something.
