{"id":130848,"date":"2026-05-06T06:00:54","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T10:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cablemanpro.com\/wallstreetpr\/weight-loss-drugs-are-changing-dining-as-customers-eat-half-their-meals-take-rest-home-celebrity-chef-says-130848"},"modified":"2026-05-06T06:00:54","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T10:00:54","slug":"weight-loss-drugs-are-changing-dining-as-customers-eat-half-their-meals-take-rest-home-celebrity-chef-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cablemanpro.com\/wallstreetpr\/weight-loss-drugs-are-changing-dining-as-customers-eat-half-their-meals-take-rest-home-celebrity-chef-says-130848","title":{"rendered":"Weight-loss drugs are changing dining as customers eat half their meals, take rest home, celebrity chef says"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>FIRST ON FOX<\/strong>: The restaurant industry is under constant pressure to evolve as tastes and trends change \u2014 including how much people are eating.<\/p>\n<p>In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/lifestyle\/food\/celebrity-chefs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">celebrity chef<\/a> Rocco DiSpirito, restaurateur and owner of New York City&#8217;s new Bar Rocco, discussed how shifting consumer habits \u2014 including delivery, pricing and weight-loss trends \u2014 are reshaping the industry.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s no question the restaurant industry is changing,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Mostly dining habits are changing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/food-drink\/solo-dining-surges-52-americans-embrace-me-me-me-economy-shared-meals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>SOLO DINING SURGES 52% AS AMERICANS EMBRACE &#8216;ME-ME-ME ECONOMY&#8217; OVER SHARED MEALS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A lot of people are getting food delivered to their homes,&#8221; he said, noting one example.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now you can get everything delivered to your home. There was a time [when] <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/food-drink\/food\/restaurants\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fine-dining restaurants<\/a> didn&#8217;t do delivery, but now they all do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At-home delivery is pulling some diners away from traditional restaurant experiences, DiSpirito said \u2014 while also contributing to a growing demand for faster, more efficient service when people do choose to dine out.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They generally are looking for great value, but still looking for really indulgent foods, really special occasion experiences and vibes, and I think they want to feel like they experience something very special when they go out,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>A powerful impact on the industry has been the GLP-1 movement. As more Americans take weight-loss medications such as Ozempic, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/food-drink\/ozempic-boom-collides-americas-eating-habits-restaurants-shrink-portions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appetites are shrinking<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Yet while people are eating less, DiSpirito revealed that this hasn&#8217;t led to restaurants reducing portions. Instead, he said, diners are taking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/food-drink\/recipes\/meals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">their meals<\/a> to go more often than before.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Due to GLP-1 medications, people are eating less. There&#8217;s no question about it. They&#8217;re drinking less as well,&#8221; he said \u2014 adding that they &#8220;still want big portions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/lifestyle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE FOR MORE LIFESTYLE STORIES<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What I&#8217;m seeing is people are eating half of their food and taking the other half home,&#8221; he continued.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So now, even in fine dining, it&#8217;s not uncommon to see someone <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/food-drink\/food\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">order food<\/a> and ask for a box to take it home on almost every occasion, even on a date, which was unheard of at one time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>DiSpirito reflected on how swanky restaurants used to give out tinfoil swans, which he said was devised by restaurateurs to &#8220;discourage take-home.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now, we give them a nice pretty little package with a sticker on the bag,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/newsletters?cmpid=fnfirstnl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The take-home trend is also a more economical move, as it makes for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/food-drink\/recipes\/meals\/lunch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;free&#8221; lunch<\/a> the next day. DiSpirito said he understands why people are thinking about value.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Prices are generally higher.
