The company is managed internally and it performs operations which include originating, acquiring and managing portfolios of commercial real estate debt. It also deals in commercial real estate securities and lease properties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Dec. 17, filings with Securities Exchange Commission revealed a unique insider buying whereby the company\u2019s director Preston Butcher acquired additional 10,000 shares of the stock. The shares were bought at an average cost of $12.47 per piece and at a total value of $124,700.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This transaction now means that the director directly owns about 102,680 shares of his company all of which have a total value of approximately $1.3 million.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For everyday investors, insider trading offer important investment information on which investment decisions can be based. In Wall Street they say that insiders buy for one reason but may sell for different reasons. Equality important as insider trading is hedge funds activity in a stock. Investors who follow top picks of hedge funds have routinely outperformed their index-focused counterparts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is thus important for investors to keep an eye on what insiders are doing in a stock as well as the stocks which hedge funds are betting on more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the recent quarter,\u00a0Northstar Realty Finance Corp. (NYSE:NRF) has posted earnings beat which further brings it under the radar of many investors. The company reported its most recent quarter last month where it earned $0.46 per share against consensus estimate at $0.31.
