The U.S. Department of Homeland Security<\/a> (DHS)\u00a0on Tuesday recognized\u00a0National\u00a0Crime Victims\u00a0Week\u00a0by\u00a0shining a light\u00a0on\u00a0those impacted by crimes allegedly committed by illegal immigrants and resources available to angel families.<\/p>\n

After being shut down by the Biden administration, the Trump administration re-opened the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement<\/a> (VOICE) Office to prioritize American victims and their families.<\/p>\n

Over the past year, the office has fielded nearly 900 calls seeking assistance, according to DHS.<\/p>\n

ICE BUSTS SEVERAL CONVICTED CRIMINALS, INCLUDING CHILD RAPIST WHO THREATENED TO KILL 11-YEAR-OLD VICTIM<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The office restores critical support services, such as helping victims track immigration enforcement<\/a> cases, providing automated ICE custody updates, and connecting families with local social services.<\/p>\n

Of the incidents reported, DHS said 32% involved violent assault, 15% involved rape<\/a> or sexual assault and 9% involved homicide or manslaughter.<\/p>\n

“For too long in this country, victims of illegal alien crime have been ignored by the media and sanctuary politicians,”\u00a0DHS acting assistant secretary Lauren Bis wrote in a statement to Fox News Digital.\u00a0“This National Crime Victims Week, Secretary Markwayne Mullin<\/a> is honoring the victims of illegal alien crime.”<\/p>\n

“DHS will never stop fighting for victims of illegal aliens and will ALWAYS put America first,” she added. “Every crime committed by an illegal alien is completely preventable.”<\/p>\n

Some of the victims of crimes allegedly committed by illegal immigrants, who DHS is remembering this week, include:<\/p>\n

In April 2025,\u00a0Megan\u00a0Bos\u2019 body was found partially decomposed<\/a> in a garbage can in Waukegan, Illinois.<\/p>\n

Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, is charged with abuse of a corpse, two counts of concealing the death of a person and obstructing justice in connection with her death.<\/p>\n

Despite the charges, DHS said he was released under sanctuary Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker. On July 19, 2025,\u00a0he was arrested by ICE\u00a0officers in Chicago.<\/p>\n

Joshua Wilkerson, 18,\u00a0was killed by his classmate Hermilo Moralez, an illegal immigrant from Belize, on Nov. 16, 2010, according to DHS.<\/p>\n

After his disappearance, Wilkerson\u2019s body was found\u00a0dumped in the woods,\u00a0severely\u00a0beaten\u00a0and burned.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Less than five months before killing Wilkerson, DHS said Moralez\u00a0was\u00a0arrested for\u00a0harassing\u00a0his\u00a0ex-girlfriend.<\/p>\n

Dalilah Coleman was seriously injured after illegal immigrant Partap Singh allegedly caused a car crash while driving recklessly behind the wheel of a semi-truck.<\/p>\n

The 5-year-old was in a coma for three weeks and\u00a0required\u00a0six months of hospital treatment, according to DHS. Now 7 years old, she will need life-long therapy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Singh first entered the U.S. illegally in 2022, but was released by the Biden administration, officials said. Despite his immigration history, he\u00a0was\u00a0also\u00a0granted a Commercial Driver\u2019s License (CDL) in California<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Katie Abraham, a 20-year-old Ohio University student,\u00a0was killed on Jan. 19, 2025, in a car crash\u00a0in Urbana, Illinois.<\/p>\n

A drunk driver, later identified as Julio Cucul-Bol, rear-ended the\u00a0vehicle\u00a0she was riding in at high speed and then\u00a0fled the scene. Abraham’s friend Chloe Polzin was also killed in the crash.<\/p>\n

Cucul-Bol pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including aggravated\u00a0Driving Under Intoxication (DUI)\u00a0resulting in death and leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and was sentenced to 30 years in prison, according to DHS.<\/p>\n

Anya\u00a0Varfolomeev\u00a0and\u00a0Nicholay Osokin, both\u00a019 years old, were\u00a0hit and killed\u00a0on Nov. 19, 2021, by\u00a0an\u00a0illegal\u00a0immigrant,\u00a0Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano,\u00a0while he was driving impaired and speeding at\u00a0nearly 100\u00a0mph on the 405 freeway near Los Angeles<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ortega-Anguiano,\u00a0has a\u00a0lengthy\u00a0track\u00a0record\u00a0that includes\u00a0multiple felonies\u00a0and convictions for driving without a license, according to DHS. Despite being deported, he re-entered the country illegally twice.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was sentenced to serve two 10-year sentences, to be served concurrently. However, local outlet KABC reported<\/a> last year he was set to be released from the blue state after serving only three-and-a-half years.<\/p>\n

On Aug. 24, 2003,\u00a0Lacy Marie Ferguson\u00a0and her boyfriend were\u00a0caught\u00a0in the crossfire of a shootout between multiple illegal immigrants, according to DHS.<\/p>\n

Ferguson was killed and her boyfriend, along with a third person, were wounded, officials said. She left behind her 3-year-old daughter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2016,\u00a0the\u00a0Stanislaus County\u00a0District Attorney’s Office announced\u00a0the\u00a0arrest of\u00a0David Aguilar,\u00a0an\u00a0illegal immigrant from Mexico,\u00a0for Lacy\u2019s murder, according to DHS.\u00a0He was convicted the following year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chrishia\u00a0Odette\u00a0was killed\u00a0by an unlicensed\u00a0illegal immigrant on\u00a0Sept. 12, 2014,\u00a0after being hit by a car while crossing the street\u00a0on\u00a0the way to a slumber party at a friend\u2019s house, according to DHS.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The driver\u00a0of the car, Ramiro Guevara, was an illegal\u00a0immigrant from Mexico who spent less than\u00a035\u00a0minutes behind bars before posting a cash bond, officials said.<\/p>\n

Guevara\u00a0had\u00a0been\u00a0encountered\u00a0twice before in 1994 and 2004 by\u00a0Customs and Border\u00a0Protection<\/a>,\u00a0before\u00a0being returned to Mexico both times.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Dec. 17, 2018,\u00a0Rocky Paul Jones, 51,\u00a0of Visalia, California, was\u00a0shot and killed\u00a0at\u00a0a gas station\u00a0during a\u00a024-hour\u00a0shooting and crime spree perpetuated\u00a0by Gustavo Garcia,\u00a0an\u00a0illegal immigrant, DHS said.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0addition\u00a0to killing Jones,\u00a0DHS said Garcia\u00a0shot a farm worker in the chest while he was on a ladder picking fruit,\u00a0followed a woman to her car and\u00a0attempted\u00a0to\u00a0shoot and kill her,\u00a0fired multiple\u00a0gunshots at his ex-girlfriend\u2019s home\u00a0and robbed a gas station.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Garcia\u00a0was previously deported from the U.S. in 2014 by ICE after being charged with\u00a0crimes including illegal possession of a firearm, according to DHS.<\/p>\n

Hailey King, 18, was\u00a0hit and killed\u00a0on Nov. 7, 2016, in Fayetteville, Arkansas<\/a>, by illegal immigrant Sergio Rodriguez.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Instead of stopping to help,\u00a0he\u00a0fled the scene, according to DHS. She left behind a 2-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n

Rodriguez also struck Osmin\u00a0Gutierrez,\u00a0rendering\u00a0him a double amputee. Gutierrez died from his injuries in 2021 at 25 years old.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Officials said Rodriguez\u00a0pleaded\u00a0guilty to manslaughter,\u00a0and has twice been denied parole, with the most recent denial being in 2022.<\/p>\n

Lizbeth Medina, a 16-year-old cheerleader at Edna High School\u00a0in Texas, was\u00a0found dead\u00a0in a bathtub by her mother at their family home on Dec. 5, 2023, after she was\u00a0stabbed to death\u00a0by Rafael Govea Romero,\u00a0an\u00a0illegal immigrant from Mexico.<\/p>\n

Romero, who had been placed on an ICE detainer because of an expired visa, pleaded guilty to the killing and received two concurrent life sentences, according to DHS and local reports<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Of the total number of illegal immigrants arrested by ICE, DHS claims\u00a0nearly 70%\u00a0have committed a crime or been charged with a crime in the U.S.<\/p>\n

DHS said it is “protecting American communities every day from another senseless tragedy like these taking place in another town, to another family.”<\/p>\n
