Michelle Pfeiffer<\/a>\u2019s decision to join Taylor Sheridan\u2019s new series “The Madison” wasn\u2019t an easy one.<\/p>\n

The Hollywood legend shared how her “battle” with the famous director over a scriptless pitch ultimately paid off.<\/p>\n

During an appearance on the “Today” show Friday, host Willie Geist said, “This role, I understand, was a little bit of a surprise. He called you in and said, \u2018Effectively, I\u2019ve designed a series around you, are you in?\u2019 What did you say?”<\/p>\n

Pfeiffer replied, “I said, \u2018Great, I\u2019d love to read something.\u2019”<\/p>\n

But there was a twist, as Sheridan, who\u2019s known for pulling talent<\/a> in without scripts, threw Pfeiffer for a loop when he revealed, “I\u2019d like to cast first, and then I write.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pfeiffer wasn\u2019t sold on the idea right away. “We went back and forth like that for a few weeks,” she confessed.<\/p>\n

“And then I realized I was not going to win this battle, so I took a huge leap of faith. Obviously, he has an amazing track record.”<\/p>\n

Sheridan\u2019s success in the genre and his impressive track record \u2014 especially with “Yellowstone” \u2014 finally convinced her to take the plunge.<\/p>\n

“He talked to me \u2026 he gave me the sort of general scope of the character and what [the] journey was for this family \u2026 I was really interested in that,” she explained.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“It’s a grind, doing a TV show and being away for all those months, but, you know, I can now.”<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t just Sheridan\u2019s reputation that sealed the deal \u2014 Pfeiffer called up fellow actress Helen Mirren<\/a>, who starred in “1883,” “Yellowstone\u2019s” prequel, for advice.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pfeiffer explained, “I don\u2019t know Helen, but from what I\u2019ve seen and heard, she\u2019s sort of a \u2018take no prisoners\u2019 kind of person. I thought she\u2019d be really straight with me, like \u2018Run\u2019 or you know \u2026 and basically it was like \u2018run and do it.\u2019”<\/p>\n

“She said, \u2018The scripts are amazing, the best-run productions that I\u2019ve ever been on.’ And I\u2019m having so much fun.”<\/p>\n

Mirren\u2019s glowing recommendation, along with Sheridan\u2019s pitch, ultimately sealed the deal for Pfeiffer, who said she\u2019s enjoying the ride.<\/p>\n

Pfeiffer is also joined by Kurt Russell<\/a>, her longtime friend and co-star, in “The Madison.”<\/p>\n

The duo had been hoping for a reunion \u2014 and now they\u2019re finally sharing the screen again.<\/p>\n

“I always want to be with Kurt,” she previously told Fox News Digital. “I had such a good time working with him on \u2018Tequila Sunrise.\u2019”<\/p>\n

“The Madison” follows Pfeiffer\u2019s character, Stacy Clyburn, as she and her family leave their New York City<\/a> life behind after a devastating loss. The show has already proven to be a massive success.<\/p>\n

The premiere episode hit 8 million global streaming views<\/a> in just 10 days, making it Sheridan\u2019s biggest launch to date. The show has already been renewed for a second season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
