Boston, MA, 11\/18\/2013 (wallstreetpr) \u2013 As per Digitimes\u00a0Research, Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK)\u2019s recent launch of its Asha and Lumia devices have failed to impress the market so far. The company had recently launched two Lumia series devices and three new devices in its Asha series with the hope of augmenting its sales under is Windows Phone category, however its success is still under the test.<\/p>\n
The Nokia Asha is aimed at competing with the low budget Smartphones as it is placed in the high-end feature phone divisions. During the third quarter of the year 2013, Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) dispatched almost 5.9 million Asha phones globally which was higher as compared to the second quarter but was still below the 6.5 million units shipped,during the previous year. Reportedly, Nokia Asha has not been able to perform well in line with the expectations of the company\u2019s aim for feature phone business.<\/p>\n
Further according to the Digitimes Research reports, Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK)\u2019s \u00a0Window based phones have already been striving to gain a substantial market share as these phones are subjected to poor sales in the upper-end phone market. During the third quarter, Nokia has shipped around 8.8 million Lumia phones as against the shipment of 6.3 million units in the previous year. But somehow, the phone maker has tough fight against the giant market competitors like Samsung and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL). At the same time, the Finnish phone maker is planning to launch Lumia 2020 tablet, with an 8-inch wide display and Lumia 1820 Smartphone in Mobile World Congress in the beginning of the year 2014.<\/p>\n
Nokia\u2019s has reportedly sold its handsets and devices business to Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) for $7.3 billion as it plans to concentrate more on Research and Development.<\/p>\n
