An illegal alien from Mexico<\/a> living in Utah has been charged with attempted murder after authorities said he slit a woman’s throat.<\/p>\n

Jesus Alejandro Ramirez-Padilla has been charged with attempted murder, obstruction of justice,\u00a0aggravated assault and drug\u00a0paraphernalia after the March 18 incident in Salt Lake City, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Immigration authorities are requesting that local officials honor a detainer lodged against the suspect.<\/p>\n

The victim is reportedly in critical condition in the hospital. The woman’s identity has not been revealed.<\/p>\n

“Jesus Alejandro Ramirez-Padilla is a dangerous criminal illegal alien\u00a0who\u00a0violently\u00a0strangled and slit a woman\u2019s throat multiple times,”\u00a0said\u00a0DHS acting\u202fAssistant Secretary Lauren Bis.\u00a0“We\u00a0are calling on politicians to not release this barbaric criminal\u00a0from jail and into\u00a0American neighborhoods.\u00a0This\u00a0criminal\u00a0illegal alien has no place in American\u00a0communities.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to local reports<\/a>, Ramirez-Padilla and the woman were smoking methamphetamine<\/a> before the alleged crime. Police responded to reports of a woman crying in an alley, and found her bleeding with a deep cut in her neck.<\/p>\n

A homeowner’s surveillance camera reportedly caught the incident, leading to Ramirez-Padilla’s identification. When he was arrested, his hands and pants were covered in blood, according to the reports.<\/p>\n

He reportedly met the victim the previous night, and they met up take drugs together the night of the alleged murder attempt.<\/p>\n

Ramirez-Padilla also reportedly confessed to police<\/a> that he strangled the victim and slit her throat, but said that the drugs altered his state of mind.<\/p>\n

It is unclear whether Ramirez-Padilla, who remained in the Salt Lake County jail<\/a> as of Tuesday, has obtained legal counsel.<\/p>\n

The suspected attempted murder comes on the heels of several high-profile crimes in which illegal aliens are prime suspects.<\/p>\n

Venezuelan national Jose Medina-Medina was charged on Sunday with first-degree murder in the death of Loyola University of Chicago student Sheridan Gorman<\/a>. Police say that Gorman was shot in the back while walking along Chicago’s lakefront<\/a> with friends last Thursday.<\/p>\n

In late February, another high profile case of alleged illegal alien crime made national news when Abdul Jalloh of Sierra Leone<\/a> was charged with the murder in the stabbing death of Stephanie Minter in Fairfax County, Virginia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jalloh had 30 prior arrests<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
