If the exploding numbers of articles in the trade magazines are to be believed Pentagon sees a lot of potential in leveraging the concept of a suite made of cutting edge technology to meet the needs of its special forces. The trade magazines have gone on record to state that – concept papers have been invited by the U.S. Army. It expects to deploy these first gen protective gears to start as early as 2014. The project involves developing what is being termed as \u2018Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit\u2019 (Talos) to augment the defences of U.S army\u2019s special operation team members.<\/p>\n
These suites as per the U.S Army specs need to provide protection from bullets as well as act as a receptor. It will capture live feeds from overhead satellites and drones and project it to the helmet visors of the wearers. The design requirements specify that these iron cast shells should have the option to self-power by helping soldiers lug around the heavy weights easily. Los Angeles Times has quoted defence experts in the know that, these futuristic iron framed body armour will come equipped with options to carry oxygen supply. This will help the soldiers to ward off as well as overcome poison gas attacks via in-built AC systems. The AC systems are provided to keep soldiers wearing this body armour comfortable.<\/p>\n
The news reports have conveyed that this project is being driven out of Tampa based MacDill Air Force Base and is co-ordinated by U.S. Special Operations Command.
