“The Evil Dead<\/a>” star Bruce Campbell announced he’s been diagnosed with cancer and will be canceling upcoming appearances.<\/p>\n

On Monday night, Campbell took to X <\/a>to share that he has a “treatable” but not “curable” type of cancer. “I apologize if that was a shock \u2014 it was for me too,” he wrote.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m posting this, because professionally, a few things will have to change \u2014 appearances and cons and work in general need to take [a] back seat to treatment,” Campbell continued.<\/p>\n

The horror star said he hopes to be well by the summer so he can tour with his comedy movie<\/a>, “Ernie & Emma,” this fall.<\/p>\n

“There are several cons this year summer that I have to cancel,” he continued. “Big regrets on my part. Treatment needs and professional obligations don’t always go hand-in-hand.”<\/p>\n

Campbell kept the rest of his message short and sweet, explaining that he’s “not trying to enlist sympathy \u2014 or advice.”<\/p>\n

“I just want to get ahead of this information in case false information gets out (which it will). Fear not, I am a tough old son-of-a-b—- and I have great support, so I expect to be around a while. As always, you\u2019re the greatest fans in the world and I hope to see you soon!” Campbell concluded.<\/p>\n

The star is best known for his role as Ash Williams in the 1981 classic “The Evil Dead.” Beyond horror, Campbell has appeared in a number of TV shows<\/a>, including “Burn Notice,” “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” and “Xena: Warrior Princess.”<\/p>\n
