Revenues were affected in spite of good volumes due to unfavorable foreign currency, lower price realization and product mix.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The revenues were $5 billion, a fall of 5% over the same period last year. Revenues were impacted by\n<ul>\n<li>Decline in non-tire related business lead to a shortfall of $178 million. This was on account of less revenues from its trading activity in Chemicals. Volumes as well as prices were lower this quarter.<\/li>\n<li>Impact of unfavorable foreign exchange translation was $77 million.<\/li>\n<li>Lower price realization and product mix resulted in lower revenues to the extent of $89 million.<\/li>\n<li>These losses were offset by higher volumes of 82 million tire units.<\/li>\n<li>Earnings per share increased to $0.68 as compared to $0.53 for the same period last year, an increase of 28%.<\/li>\n<li>Net income also increased by 28% from $142 million to $183 million. The company could report a profit of $166 million as compared to $110 million for the same quarter last year.<\/li>\n<li>Operating income increased by 24% from $348 million to $431 million mainly on account of higher volumes.<\/li>\n<li>Revenues from different geographical segments were as under:\n<ul>\n<li>North America saw growth in tire volumes from 15.6 million to 15.8 million units. Revenues dipped by 9.1% to $2.2 billion mainly on account of less revenue from no-tire business.<\/li>\n<li>Europe, Middle East and Africa contributed $1.8 billion to the revenues. Volumes were higher by 3% to 16.7 million tire units. The company also benefitted due to favorable foreign exchange rates.<\/li>\n<li>There was a decrease in tire unit sales to 4.5 million in Latin America. Foreign exchange rates were also not favorable as dollar remained strong throughout the third quarter. The losses were offset by very favorable pricing and product mix as well as higher sales of traded chemicals.<\/li>\n<li>Volumes were higher in Asia-Pacific segment, these were offset by unfavorable foreign exchange rates and lower prices and product mix. Revenues decreased by 9.3% to $537 million.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Goodyear expects same conditions to prevail in the fourth quarter with demand being flat. Decline in revenues spooked the investors and the stock fell by 5.85%, once triggering NASDAQ\u2019s short sale circuit breaker.
