“Teen Mom” alum Farrah Abraham<\/a> is eyeing a new title \u2014 mayor \u2014 but her political rollout may have come a bit too early.<\/p>\n

Abraham announced on social media that she plans to run for mayor of Austin, Texas, sparking immediate buzz and a fair amount of confusion.<\/p>\n

The reality TV star later appeared on “TMZ Live,”<\/a> where hosts quickly discovered that her campaign timeline didn\u2019t quite line up with reality.<\/p>\n

“The election\u2019s not until 2028<\/a>. Why so early?” the hosts asked.<\/p>\n

Abraham responded confidently \u2014 and incorrectly. “For some reason, the mayor election is in 2026\u2026” she said.<\/p>\n

During the live interview, TMZ called City Hall in Austin, and Abraham had a stunned reaction. “So, Farrah, we just got this in our ear, the election is in 2028\u2026 so I think you may have jumped the gun here.”<\/p>\n

The revelation appeared to catch Abraham completely off guard. She visibly struggled as the hosts explained the difference between municipal, district and federal election cycles.<\/p>\n

“I love that I jumped the gun,” she replied with a smile, embracing the confused moment.<\/p>\n

Austin Mayor Kirk Watson was elected in 2024 and is serving a four-year term. The next mayoral race won\u2019t take place until 2028.<\/p>\n

Despite the timeline hiccup, Abraham is already taking action as a candidate. She has launched a campaign website<\/a> and is soliciting political donations \u2014 years ahead of the actual race.<\/p>\n

Abraham also referenced fellow reality TV star Spencer Pratt, who is currently running for mayor of Los Angeles<\/a> in an election that is scheduled for 2026 \u2014 a detail that may have fueled her confusion.<\/p>\n

A rep for the former MTV star shared a statement with Fox News Digital detailing her decision to run for office.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m running for Austin City Council District 5 because our city has lost balance \u2014 we\u2019ve gone soft on crime, driven up prices and left working families like mine struggling to keep up. Enough is enough,” Abraham, 34, shared.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve faced Hollywood drama, cancel culture and online trolls and I\u2019m still here \u2014 ready to fight for Austin families who don\u2019t have lobbyists or insider access. I\u2019m here for the everyday parents juggling jobs, school runs and dreams. It\u2019s time for a survivor mom who knows how to hustle and make real change.”<\/p>\n

She additionally laid out a six-point platform she said will anchor her election run.<\/p>\n

Abraham entered the spotlight in 2009 on MTV\u2019s “16 and Pregnant,” with her storyline marked by tragedy as she welcomed daughter Sophia shortly after losing her high school boyfriend.<\/p>\n

She later became one of the most recognizable faces on “Teen Mom” before leaving the show in 2018.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
