The Washington Post published an opinion piece supporting women\u2019s sports ahead of a Supreme Court<\/a> hearing on transgender athletes’ participation in school sports.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court will hear arguments on the Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J. cases, which both address the constitutional rights of states to bar biological males<\/a> from competing in women’s sports.<\/p>\n

Days before the high-profile hearing, The Washington Post editorial board<\/a> wrote that “neither science nor the American public” is on the side of transgender athletes and that a decision could finally put the debate to rest.<\/p>\n

FEDERAL JUDGE STRIKES DOWN ‘GENDER SECRECY’ POLICIES IN CALIFORNIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

“The Supreme Court has the chance this week to save women\u2019s sports, allow\u00ading states to restore a level play\u00ading field for girls by exclud\u00ading bio\u00adlo\u00adgical men and thereby cor\u00adrect\u00ading one of the worst excesses of Amer\u00adica\u2019s cul\u00adtural revolu\u00adtion,” the editorial board wrote Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Washington Post denounced efforts by people to “dis\u00adbe\u00adlieve their lying eyes” on facts surrounding biological males’ physical advantages over women, saying that their efforts failed both in policy and politics.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s a policy fail\u00adure because act\u00adiv\u00adist groups pushed for policies that were far out\u00adside the main\u00adstream,” The Washington Post argued. “About 7 in 10 U.S. adults believe ath\u00adletic par\u00adti\u00adcip\u00ada\u00adtion should be determ\u00adined by bio\u00adlo\u00adgical sex, not gender iden\u00adtity. It\u2019s a polit\u00adical fail\u00adure because those groups never really tried to make a com\u00adpel\u00adling case for their agenda. Instead, they attacked those who dis\u00adagreed as trans\u00adphobic and sought to shut down debate. Is there evid\u00adence that males are bet\u00adter ath\u00adletes than females? Yes, scads.”<\/p>\n

The publication also warned that broad transgender inclusion in women’s sports could effectively end female athlete participation entirely, rolling back decades of progress made by the feminist movement.<\/p>\n

“Rather than unlaw\u00adful dis\u00adcrim\u00adin\u00ada\u00adtion on the basis of sex, the laws being chal\u00adlenged are reas\u00adon\u00adable con\u00adces\u00adsions to immut\u00adable real\u00adity,” the Post concluded.<\/p>\n

SUPREME COURT RULING ON TRANS TREATMENTS FOR MINORS DECRIED BY MEDIA AS ‘HUGE SETBACK FOR TRANSGENDER RIGHTS’<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Director of Independent Women’s Law Center, May Mailman,\u00a0expressed surprise at The Washington Post’s stance, claiming it would have been “unthinkable” until recently. However, she added that the Post’s stance is largely catching up with “the side of reality.”<\/p>\n

“I\u00a0don\u2019t actually think this article reflects a shift in public opinion \u2014 the public was always on the side of reality. It reflects the defeat of the elites. The elites, like university professors and liberal lawyers, forced this lie down our throats, they\u2019ve been called out for it, and now they are pretending like they\u2019re discovering reality anew,” Mailman told Fox News Digital<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nearly 30 states currently have laws preventing transgender athletes<\/a> from taking part in female sports at public schools and college. It remains unclear when the Supreme Court will issue decisions in Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
