Chicago Bears<\/a> head coach Ben Johnson backed Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin ahead of the teams\u2019 matchup this weekend after Tomlin appeared to defend cornerback Jalen Ramsey\u2019s actions following last weekend\u2019s spitting controversy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters before hosting Pittsburgh on Sunday, the first-year NFL<\/a> head coach was complimentary of his counterpart\u2019s success in the league. Johnson spoke at length about Tomlin before touching on his recent remarks about Ramsey\u2019s ejection from the team\u2019s Week 11 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The fact that he hadn\u2019t had a losing season. It\u2019s incredible. It\u2019s absolutely incredible to think that he\u2019s been a head coach as long as he has and just keeps churning out wins,” Johnson began.<\/p>\n

“He sets the bar very high, and nothing but respect for him. How he goes about his business, he holds his players accountable \u2013 I think you saw it even this week with some of the quotes talking about a player getting spit at. His reaction to it, I mean, he\u2019s 100% right as far as I\u2019m concerned.”<\/p>\n

Johnson went on to say that Tomlin “hit the nail on the head” in discussing the incident that involved Ramsey grabbing Ja\u2019Marr Chase\u2019s facemask before punching him. Ramsey accused the star receiver of spitting on him, prompting his physical response.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ramsey was ejected, but Chase was later suspended<\/a> by the league after a review of the spitting allegations.\u00a0<\/p>\n

STEELERS’ MIKE TOMLIN WEIGHS IN ON JALEN RAMSEY\u2019S EJECTION AFTER SPITTING INCIDENT WITH JA\u2019MARR CHASE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Tomlin weighed in on the incident.<\/p>\n

“I was aware. I certainly talked to Jalen in-game \u2013 it\u2019s an unfortunate incident. It\u2019s not an act that\u2019s common to the game of football, it\u2019s nothing to do with football,” Tomlin said. “And so, I\u2019m not going to comment on it. The NFL office rendered their judgment on it and so we\u2019re moving on.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

When pressed later about his messaging to Ramsey, Tomlin did not offer much. But he did make his stance on Ramsey\u2019s reaction to the spitting incident quite clear.<\/p>\n

“I have no message if someone spits in your face. Do what comes natural.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Steelers head to Chicago hopeful Aaron Rodgers<\/a> will be on the field, despite the quarterback suffering a broken wrist.<\/p>\n
