Stand-up comedian Becky Robinson<\/a>\u2019s career is really starting to take off, thanks to a wig, a golf outfit from her mother\u2019s closet, and what she calls “one manic episode of improv” she filmed and posted to social media at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Robinson spoke with Fox News Digital<\/a> in October about her new special, “Entitled,” and the inspiration behind her viral comedy character, “Entitled Housewife” \u2014 an uninhibited, foul-mouthed parody of wine-mom and country club culture. The character blew up on social media during the pandemic and has helped Robinson build a legion of fans.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I first found the character by just like improvising, like my parents left the house and I was just like, \u2018Scott, where’s the Sauvy B?\u2019 I just kind of started yelling at this fake husband kind of how my mom maybe would at my dad if she was upset,” she told Fox News.<\/p>\n

One of Robinson\u2019s first “Entitled Housewife” videos<\/a>, posted to YouTube in 2020, shows the character trying \u2014 and failing \u2014 to back her SUV out of her driveway to make it to a “country club bruncheon.”<\/p>\n

Wearing a massive golf visor, oversized sunglasses and AirPods, she screams at her imaginary son, Dashiell, to move his toy wagon.<\/p>\n

“Dashiell, move your f—— wagon! I\u2019m already 15 minutes late to the country club bruncheon! I don\u2019t have any time for this.” She pulls out anyway, with the sound of the wagon crunching under the weight of the car can be heard in the background.<\/p>\n

“Whelp, that\u2019s your loss. You could\u2019ve moved it a little faster, OK? Mommy\u2019s got s— to do.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

From the very first video, Robinson had developed an entire fictional family for “Housewife” to yell at.<\/p>\n

“And it was that very first day that I started yelling at Scott, at the kids \u2013 Dashiell and Maccabee \u2013 and my best friend Trish, and her other two friends Jackie and Margo who are like her foursome that she golfs with,” Robinson said. “Her universe was just all built in that one, dare I say, manic episode of improv.”<\/p>\n

When asked where the inspiration for the character came from, Robinson pointed to her parents \u2014 and a lot of downtime during the COVID-19 pandemic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I\u00a0grew up\u00a0outside of\u00a0Portland, Oregon,\u00a0and went\u00a0home during\u00a0the pandemic, and\u00a0I was\u00a0with my\u00a0parents, and\u00a0they were\u00a0just like\u00a0having the\u00a0time of\u00a0their lives. My dad\u00a0was like,\u00a0\u2018Golf is\u00a0all we\u00a0have. This\u00a0is great.\u00a0This is\u00a0great. The\u00a0country club’s\u00a0still open.\u2019 And my\u00a0mom has\u00a0had a\u00a0lot of\u00a0health issues.\u00a0She had\u00a0a brain\u00a0tumor and\u00a0breast cancer.\u00a0And so,\u00a0by the\u00a0time the\u00a0pandemic hit,\u00a0she was\u00a0finally healthy. And\u00a0she was\u00a0like, \u2018This\u00a0is the\u00a0time I’m\u00a0supposed to\u00a0be out\u00a0and about\u00a0having White\u00a0Claws with\u00a0the girls.\u2019”<\/p>\n

“And I kind of sat there and watched them. It was just like, \u2018Oh my gosh, you guys are out of your minds,\u2019” she continued. “And I just, I put a wig on, and I went in their closet and I found a skort and a polo and a visor and my dad’s Oakleys and, of course, the AirPods. And I started improvising.”<\/p>\n

The comic told Fox News Digital she wasn\u2019t thinking about what “Entitled Housewife” might do for her career \u2014 she just wanted to make herself laugh during the lows of the pandemic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“And\u00a0that was\u00a0the first\u00a0time I\u00a0had laughed\u00a0in a\u00a0long time.\u00a0So, it\u00a0was kind of like,\u00a0maybe it’ll\u00a0make one\u00a0other person\u00a0laugh. And\u00a0I posted\u00a0the first\u00a0video, and\u00a0it just\u00a0blew up.\u00a0I had\u00a0no idea.\u00a0I thought\u00a0it was\u00a0just gonna\u00a0be like\u00a0any other\u00a0thing.”<\/p>\n

Robinson recalled how the video even caught the attention of A-list celebrities.<\/p>\n

“All these celebrities started DM\u2019ing me. Chris Pratt<\/a> was like, \u2018I gotta play your husband if you’re gonna make a movie with this.\u2019 And some of the females \u2013\u00a0Wendy McClendon Covey, who I’ve looked up to for years, was like, \u2018Yes, if you\u2019re making a movie, I’m in.\u2019 And it just opened up a lot of doors, and I’ve met so many amazing women.”<\/p>\n

Hundreds of videos and millions of views later, “Entitled Housewife” has become a household name \u2014 and a co-star on Robinson\u2019s ongoing “Member\u2019s Only” tour. The special, filmed during the Boston stop of the tour in April, is split into two parts: one featuring Robinson as herself, and the other featuring the character.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s half me doing stand-up as myself,” Robinson explained, describing the first half of the set. She said the first bit is about her “just poking fun at everyday life about the things that we’re like, \u2018Oh, this isn’t quite right,\u2019” and making jokes about being a “modern-day woman.”<\/p>\n

Describing the second act, she said, “Then the character \u2018Entitled Housewife\u2019 rolls up to the theater \u2014 running late, as usual \u2014 busts down the door, drives onto the stage and does this epic, big performance. At that point, the special turns into what feels like one big party.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We’re trying to make people ruin a couple pairs of pants, hopefully,” Robinson added.<\/p>\n

In addition to the onstage antics \u2014 including what looked like a dance number \u2014 the audience also made an impression. Many of the women showed up wearing visors, sunglasses and tennis skorts in tribute to the character.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Yes, we\u2019ve got a cult,” Robinson said, acknowledging her diehard fans.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Recalling when fans first began showing up in costume, she said, “Yeah, the very first show at the tour, kind of the tail end of the pandemic, our first show back, they just descended inside, just visors \u2013\u00a0everyone came to us. People brought rackets and clubs and like pickleball paddles. And yeah, so from the jump, everyone’s been dressing up.”<\/p>\n

Robinson\u2019s connection to her female fans is so important that she\u2019s hosting her first annual golf tournament in Tulum, Mexico, this month \u2014 the “Entitled Housewife Classic.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We found this epic course \u2014 the PGA Riviera Maya in Tulum \u2014 and the Conrad Hotel right across the way,” Robinson said. “I\u2019m hosting more than 100 people for the weekend, and we\u2019ve got a bunch of brands on board.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I want a whole weekend with them,” she said of the fans. “A night is not enough. It’s like, let’s do a whole week. So, I’m gonna do a show while we’re down there too. And two days of like a kind of a golf tournament.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

The tournament is open to the first 100 fans who buy tickets, she said, with plenty of extra perks included.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Oh, and I also have hired male Chippendales<\/a> to be the drink cart drivers, because you don’t see that in the game of golf. No, it’s always very attractive women, so I thought, \u2018Let’s get some.\u2019”<\/p>\n
