Nothing woke America up\u00a0to\u00a0the realities of gender ideology quicker than the photo of Riley Gaines<\/a> standing next\u00a0to\u00a0her National Championship opponent, a 6\u20191″ male\u00a0towering over her with his broad shoulders and smoldering grin. You felt it in your bones \u2013 this isn\u2019t right.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

The moment sparked a nationwide campaign to\u00a0try and convince everyday Americans that this feeling was not just instinct; it was internalized bigotry and evidence that there was noble, progressive work still\u00a0to\u00a0do. Only one problem. It was all a lie. And recent admissions show that not even the\u00a0top Democratic leaders believed what they were selling.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Just five years ago, I was a freshman in college, testifying in my dorm room about a bill that stated men cannot compete on\u00a0women\u2019s sports teams<\/a>. “Politics are crazy,” I thought, “Why do I even need\u00a0to\u00a0testify on something so obvious?”\u00a0<\/p>\n

I quickly learned of my\u00a0own naivety when the bill did not pass in my very conservative state. “This isn\u2019t a real issue,” they insisted while I, a female athlete who had previously competed against a man, sat in front of them. There was clearly much more\u00a0to\u00a0this problem than I realized.<\/p>\n

When the spotlight on the issue grew, it was somehow immediately deemed partisan. The issue was linked\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0Democrats\u2019 pro-LGBTQIA+ position<\/a>, which they had insisted was the civil rights issue of our time, and now it was squarely at odds with something plainly unjust. But they were in\u00a0too deep.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At every turn, those who tried\u00a0to\u00a0find solutions\u00a0to\u00a0the problem of men in\u00a0women\u2019s sports, including traditionally far-left organizations like\u00a0Women\u2019s Liberation Front, found themselves up against the powerful political operatives of the Democratic Party. Though the ties between LGB and T were fading, the radical left insisted that\u00a0to\u00a0be pro-gay or pro-woman, you had\u00a0to\u00a0also stand for men in\u00a0women\u2019s sports.\u00a0Democrats\u00a0obliged.<\/p>\n

In some ways, this makes sense. If the\u00a0Democrats\u00a0acknowledge that sex exists in sports, then what does this mean\u00a0to\u00a0other parts of their agenda that rely on sex-denying ideology? The crusade\u00a0to\u00a0abolish sex\u00a0is one that spans decades, and they are not about\u00a0to\u00a0budge now. So, they doubled down, even redefining “sex” as “gender identity” wherever they could, including in landmark pro-woman legislation like Title IX, and they continued\u00a0to\u00a0label anything contrary as “extreme” through the 2024 election.\u00a0<\/p>\n

DEFINING FAIR PLAY: WHY SWING-STATE DEMOCRATS ARE OUT OF STEP ON PROTECTING WOMEN\u2019S SPORTS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Concerned\u00a0Women\u00a0for America LAC\u00a0exit polling\u00a0suggests this issue played an outsized role in the election, and the\u00a0Democrats\u00a0paid the price<\/a> with a resounding loss in both chambers of the federal government and the White House. Voters did not buy the lie that their concerns were merely internalized bigotry. And at least some\u00a0Democrats\u00a0are finally ready\u00a0to\u00a0face the music and speak more openly about it.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Democrats’\u00a0highest-ranking\u00a0figure has finally addressed one of the biggest political flops of modern history, and while her confession is unsurprising, it should shake the party\u00a0to\u00a0its core.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In her recently released book about her presidential candidacy, former Vice President Kamala Harris<\/a>\u00a0admits that she,\u00a0too,\u00a0shares\u00a0concerns: “I agree with the concerns expressed by parents and players that we have\u00a0to\u00a0take into account biological factors such as muscle mass and unfair student athletic advantage when we determine who plays on which teams, especially in contact sports.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

But she added, “There was no way I was going\u00a0to\u00a0go against my very nature and turn on transgender people.”<\/p>\n

And there it is. Tension unmasked. When reality collides with allegiance, the\u00a0Democrats\u00a0choose allegiance.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0highest leaders of the party know they were ignoring the real, reasonable and consequential concerns of millions of\u00a0women.\u00a0Abandoning\u00a0women\u00a0and their safety was a calculation worth making in their eyes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Harris is not alone. California Gov. Gavin Newsom<\/a> has publicly\u00a0admitted\u00a0that this is “an issue of fairness \u2013 it\u2019s deeply unfair.” Yet, his state is one of the worst offenders of\u00a0women\u2019s rights in this area.<\/p>\n

On this Worldwide X\/X Day (Real Women\u2019s Day),\u00a0the good news is that some party members are choosing reality and\u00a0abandoning\u00a0ship. Just a few weeks ago, 10 House\u00a0Democrats\u00a0voted, for the first time, for a National Defense Authorization Act\u00a0amendment\u00a0that would keep men from competing on\u00a0women\u2019s athletic teams at service academies. Just a few months ago, most of these same members refused\u00a0to\u00a0vote for a\u00a0bill\u00a0with similar protections.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As we hope this issue joins the parade of failed civil rights attacks of times gone by, voters and candidates alike should heed the warning. Never stand for a lie. Truth is our only sure foundation. Policy must be based on reality.<\/p>\n

We know wrong when we see it. It is instinctive, and often clearly on display, like that photo of Riley Gaines<\/a>\u2019 medal being given\u00a0to\u00a0a male.<\/p>\n
