Last week, Virginians across the political spectrum were shocked to read text messages\u00a0from\u00a0Democratic attorney general nominee\u00a0Jay\u00a0Jones<\/a>\u00a0fantasizing about murdering a former Republican colleague and wishing death\u00a0on\u00a0his children. But this is just the start of Virginia Democrats\u2019 disturbing embrace of political violence.<\/p>\n

As\u00a0National Review\u00a0<\/i>first\u00a0reported, in 2022, just after resigning\u00a0from\u00a0the House of Delegates,\u00a0Jones\u00a0sent a disturbing string of text messages to another legislator stating that if his Republican colleagues<\/a> died before him, he would “go to their funerals to p—\u00a0on\u00a0their graves.”<\/p>\n

Jones\u00a0then stated that if he had “two bullets” and was faced with the prospect of shooting Pol Pot, Adolf Hitler and former Republican House Speaker Todd Gilbert, “Gilbert gets two bullets to the head.”<\/p>\n

Jones\u00a0next called Gilbert and his wife “evil,” stated that they were “breeding little fascists,” and wished death\u00a0on\u00a0their children.\u00a0Jones\u00a0specifically stated that he hoped Gilbert\u2019s children would die in their mother\u2019s arms.<\/p>\n

FIVE WAYS THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION CAN SAVE THE AMERICAN DREAM AND PREVENT SOCIALISM<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

All of these comments are repulsive, disgusting and totally disqualifying for anyone who seeks public office.<\/p>\n

Jay\u00a0Jones\u00a0wants Virginians to trust him<\/a> to protect them as the commonwealth\u2019s top cop, but it is abundantly clear that he harbors intense, violent malice toward anyone who disagrees with him. There can be no doubt that\u00a0Jones\u00a0would weaponize his office against his political opponents. There would be no fair and unbiased pursuit of justice under an Attorney General\u00a0Jay\u00a0Jones.<\/p>\n

When pressed\u00a0on\u00a0his past remarks,\u00a0Jones\u00a0outrageously\u00a0claimed\u00a0that\u00a0he<\/i>\u00a0was the real victim, accusing Attorney General Jason Miyares of “dropping smears through Trump-controlled media organizations.” No remorse. No apology. Just more hatred and vitriol.<\/p>\n

THE BELTWAY BUBBLE LEADS DEMOCRATS OFF A POLITICAL CLIFF<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Equally shocking has been the lack of calls for\u00a0Jones\u00a0to drop out of the race. In 2019, leading Virginia Democrats<\/a>, including Abigail Spanberger, Mark Warner, Tim Kaine and Terry McAuliffe, all called\u00a0on\u00a0Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam to resign over a decades-old yearbook photo showing him in a racist costume.<\/p>\n

But now Spanberger\u00a0only\u00a0says\u00a0that she “spoke frankly” with\u00a0Jones\u00a0after he repeatedly and explicitly wished death\u00a0on\u00a0his political opponents and their children. She has not rescinded her enthusiastic endorsement of\u00a0Jones, and she has not called\u00a0on\u00a0him to drop out of the race.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what Virginians want to know: How can Abigail Spanberger claim that she opposes political violence when she tolerates it\u00a0from\u00a0the candidates she shares a ticket with? Would Spanberger hire someone who has made comments like those\u00a0Jones\u00a0made in her administration? How can anyone trust her to lead when she doesn\u2019t even have the courage to call\u00a0on\u00a0Jones\u00a0to withdraw?<\/p>\n

HERE’S HOW WE CAN DELIVER CONSERVATIVE WELFARE REFORM<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Every Virginia Democrat should state, clearly, whether they believe\u00a0Jay\u00a0Jones\u00a0should drop out.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Abigail Spanberger is part of Virginia Democrats\u2019 violence problem<\/a>. During multiple recent campaign stops, Spanberger called\u00a0on\u00a0her supporters to “let your rage fuel you.” When criticized over these comments, Spanberger refused to back down \u2013 even as multiple Virginia Republicans had faced credible death threats.<\/p>\n

Just days before\u00a0Jones\u2019 texts became public, a man was\u00a0arrested\u00a0for threatening the life of Del. Kim Taylor, a Petersburg Republican. Prior to that, Del. Geary Higgins of Lovettsville was\u00a0texted\u00a0a death threat in which an individual threatened to shoot Higgins at his next rally.<\/p>\n

These developments also come after the disgusting reaction\u00a0from\u00a0many Virginia Democrats to the killing of Charlie Kirk last month.<\/p>\n

PORTLAND’S DYSTOPIA DELUSION COMING TO A CITY NEAR ALL OF US<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

In the immediate wake of that shooting, Democrat Chesterfield County School Board\u00a0Chair\u00a0Dot Heffron \u2013 who has been endorsed by both Spanberger and Democrat lieutenant governor nominee Ghazala Hashmi \u2013\u00a0posted, “Call me old fashioned, but I remember when we used to be ok with shooting Nazis.” Jasmine Frye, identified as an employee of Spanberger\u2019s campaign,\u00a0posted\u00a0“F around and find out” in response to Kirk\u2019s assassination.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the finance director for a Virginia Democrat PAC<\/a> was\u00a0exposed\u00a0for mocking those upset at Kirk\u2019s death and reposting claims that his killing was “objectively funny.” In another case, Katie Pillis, Virginia Democrat Sen. Mark Warner\u2019s casework operations coordinator,\u00a0posted\u00a0mocking remarks\u00a0on\u00a0Instagram about Kirk being shot.<\/p>\n

Spanberger and Virginia Democrats want us to ignore all of these incidents as isolated outbursts. But the pattern is undeniable.<\/p>\n

This is not just about\u00a0Jay\u00a0Jones. It is about a Democrat Party in Virginia<\/a> that has grown comfortable excusing, rationalizing and even promoting political violence and murder. When their candidates joke about killing Republicans, when their operatives laugh at assassinations, when their leaders tell supporters to let “rage” guide them, what they are really doing is laying the groundwork for more threats, more intimidation and more bloodshed.<\/p>\n

Virginians should not tolerate it. We cannot hand over the keys of government to a party that shrugs at violence against its opponents. If Democrats will not draw a line, then voters must.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
